So are you thinking about creating a web site? I’d strongly suggest you read this article before you decide on who to host with, it could save you a headache.
Back in July I started EmotionalNinja.net with JustHost, a web hosting company that is incredibly cheap, and I’m not just talking about web hosting for $3.45 a month. They cut corners everywhere they can, and I only wish I would have not been so cheap when starting my website. It took me about 5 months before I had out grown my web host and they suspended my account without any warning. I had used 98% of their servers resources and because of that they had to shut me down. I don’t blame them I was screwing over probably 1,000 of their other customers, but I would have appreciated some kind of warning.
Anyway that nightmare didn’t end there, they never gave me my EPP code for transferring my domain name. Now that I am about to out grown HostMonster’s shared package I am planning on moving over to HostGator’s VPS plan. However I want to bring my domain name over to HostMonster so I can transfer the nameservers on my own, and I can pretty much make this transfer as seamless as possible. Well JustHost has screwed me over yet again. They will not release the code to me after days of asking for it, and I emailed them from my cody@emotionalninja.net email. Finally today I emailed them from the email I used when I created my account however I gave them all the info they had asked for and they still told me they needed more. It doesn’t help this is all done via email and takes about 5 to 12 hours to get a reply. Their support team sucks and I strongly recommend against them.
Now I’m not saying shared hosting is terrible, I actually love shared hosting from HostMonster. They have done a tremendous job and my site has been able to grow and continue to bring you new content on a daily basis without any problems. However I have been getting quite a bit of traffic and now get throttled for about 18 hours a day. Not very good when I want my website to load fast which is why I am switching to HostGator and their VPS hosting plan. I would have done this days ago however my old web host is holding me back.
What I am trying to get at is don’t go with JustHost at all. Avoid them at all costs and sign up with HostMonster. They have done a GREAT job. My site has seen days with over 16,000 unique visitors and it didn’t go down for a second. JustHost however suspended me after having just 5,000 unique visitors.
