I want to make sure that I am staying in compliance with the FTC regulations. As I’m now promoting more stuff where I get paid when you buy the product or subscribe to something I figured now is a good time to do this. Rather than breaking down everything I figured it’d just be easier to do it like this.

Some of my text links are links to products that I get paid whenever you pay for them. I only promote things that I feel are good solid products, and would promote reguadless of getting paid. However when given the option to make some extra money while still giving you great content, it’s hard to see why I would do it for free.

Some banner ads work the same way on this website. However a good portion of them I get paid just for you viewing them. Other ones I get paid whenever you click on them. I wont disclose which ones are which as that is against the advertisers Terms of Service.

Hopefully this makes the FTC happy while keeping my advertisers happy as well.

Well I decided to go back to having a decent number of advertisements up on the site. I recently left my job at Menards for a lower paying job at Walmart. The reason being I was under way to much stress at Menards and they were not following my availability I gave them for my school hours. I will be working more hours at Walmart however I feel it will be more than manageable as I am working in Electronics and it seems like a friendlier work enviornment.

Anyway that is why you will now see pop-unders, the little pop in ad and the insertial advertisements on the website. I am working on some other ways to generate revenue, however until that happens I’m going to have to keep those advertisements up otherwise I cut my ad revenue in half, which is not a good thing. I appreciate your cooperation with the ads. I honestly don’t think they are that annoying, if you do feel free to emal me at cody@emotionalninja.net and give me some ideas as to how I can change them.

Big news coming your way! After posting a poll to see if I should add message boards or not it looked like more than enough people would use them if I offered them. So I am going to start the stages of launching the new EmotionalNinja Community. I plan on running the message boards on this server using Invision Power Board as my message board script. I just need to wait on my next pay check from advertisements to pay for a license. For those of you who don’t plan on using them this will also affect you. Those advertisements, the mildly annoying pop ups, will be gone over the next few months. The reason for that is because if the message boards are as successful as I’m hoping for them to be then banner advertisements alone should help pay for my server costs as well as my car payment. There is the chance I will still use the Pop-Unders just because they are not that intrusive and they pay very well. But we will see when we get there.

Another thing that is being changed is the color scheme. It’s getting close to spring and where I am right now the sun is shining and the sky is blue. I’m sick of looking at my website with it’s dark color, so I’m going to be slowly changing the color scheme to a brighter look. Most likely I’ll start with the background and go from there, but that’s all I have for you today on March 17th. I need a shower.

***Oh almost forgot. Those of you that want to use the message boards on day one should register on here. I will be linking all of the users already registered for here to the message boards.

Everything seems to be going sort of smooth with transferring my website to a VPS host. I have always used shared hosting so now that I’m on a VPS hosting plan it’s like I am starting all over again. Sooooo things could be a bit smoother however considering I’m learning a lot as I go along it’s been better that it could have been for sure. Right now I’m just waiting for the DNS servers to propagate everywhere. My ISP has it updated, however my hosting companies ISP has not. Kind of funny.

Anyway the rest of this week is going to be spent getting everything set up, and making sure everything is nice and smooth. Expect a lot more articles from me because I’m on a server that can handle it.

January 10th, 2010

Well I decided to go with a brighter template for the website. Hopefully this will make reading content easier. I’ll do some minor tweaking through out the week but it should look pretty much like this for a while. Hopefully. I’m also going to try to post at least 1 article per day into each section of the website. I noticed the Technology section of the site especially needs some loving.

I decided to change my layout again, I’m hoping this will be the last redesign I do for a while. I got the idea from Revenue Robot as far as the header goes and the rest was designed through artisteer. I’m not 100% happy with it, as I still have a lot of tweaking to do, but I think this is a good step in the right direction for the websites look.

December 20th, 2009

I’m sure many of you have noticed the new layout by now. As well as a fancier layout I’m also sporting a 2nd way to advertise on EmotionalNinja.net you can now pay a flat rate for a week, 2 weeks or 1 month and have you ad placed in one of the designated spots. Other than that EmotionalNinja.net will now focus 99% on video game news. I’m breaking away from the majority of all tech related stuff unless it’s ground breaking. I also launched my 2nd website earlier this week. PoBale.com which was intended to be a social networking site of sorts with a twist but I decided that I enjoy running blogs too much. So it’s my celebrity gossip blog which will one day be bigger than PerezHilton.com (I can only hope…)

Anyway other than that I’m going to start using Twitter more so follow me on there @codyengel

EmotionalNinja.net has undergone a lot of changes in the past day. You probably wont notice most of them. The website has been getting a large amount of traffic and because of that my old web host decided to part ways with me. I am now being hosted by HostMonster (a much better web host, such a great support team) I am still using shared hosting however, which is not my long term plan for this website. I am seeing at a minimum of 2,000 unique visitors a day and have seen it surge up to almost 6,000 unique visitors a day. Those numbers don’t make web hosts happy when you aren’t on a VPS or Dedicated Server so I have implemented a few things to keep things running smoothly. The first is a caching system so the popular pages are HTML files instead of PHP files, this allows for less of a server strain and makes my hosting company happy. However you may see slow load times, and I apologize for that however currently I can’t financially move to a dedicated host. This brings me to my next point, I have done away with adsense because it wasn’t earning me enough money, I have instead switched to adbrite as I’ve had a good amount of success with other websites for making money. There are full page ads for now, you will see a full page ad once every 12 hours, you can skip the ad though, it only gets in the way slightly. Again I’m sorry for this but I need to get money so I can move to a dedicated server and bring you a better website.
