Well if you didn’t own Activision stock before this week you will probably wish that you had. Modern Warfare 2 sold 4.7 Million Copies on DAY ONE! This is not just the biggest game release of all time but also the biggest sale in media on day one! Just in case you don’t know what it looks like: 4,700,000 discs. That’s unbelievable!
Activision cleared $310 Million ($310,000,000) in sales in one day, which is why you probably wish you owned some stock right now. I know when I was working Tuesday night I had some copies of Modern Warfare 2 left and before the night was over I was sold out and I work at ShopKo, a store that never sells out of video game stuff because no one ever thinks to shop for new games there. Well it happened and I wish I would have bought the game, I may have to tomorrow if my pay check is good enough.
Analysts expect the Activision to sell 12 Million copies of the game by the end of the year which I’m guesstimating to be $791,489,361 worth of terrorist killing, bandwidth eating goodness.
