Modern Warfare 2 sales break past $1,000,000,000 that’s 1 Billion.

I’m sure you remember that one game, Modern Warfare 2. It was released back in November, it did $550 million in sales during it’s first 5 days. Well now just 2 months later the game has sold over $1,000,000,000 worth of fragging goodness. Just how did the game achieve such a massive feat? Well the easy explanation is the game just kicks ass. Seriously, what first person shooters are better that Modern Warfare 2 right now? MAG? No way.

I suppose I could attempt to explain how the game sold so well, and elaborate a little bit more. The game had some solid hype around it, because of this it had an excellent launch. Now if you mix an excellent launch with an even better video game on top of it being released during holiday buying season, then you have yourself the recipe to do massive sales. The people that bought the game right away ended up going and telling all their friends that they have to buy the game, and what did their friends do? I bet you they bought it. And because of this it helped Modern Warfare 2 break records, which I am sure this is one.

Other games that Activision has published have hit $1 billion in sales before, Guitar Hero 3 did this, however it was out for 14 months before it achieved that. Plain and simple Modern Warfare 2 is a sales Juggernaut and I feel sorry for anyone trying to steal it’s thunder (cough, MAG) because I am pretty sure you will not do so well.
