You know you had a good night when you wake up in the morning and Microsoft had installed updates you did not okay. The Windows Validation update was installed on my computer in the background sometime last night, it did not require a restart or anything like that. I just find it funny that they give you the option in install it and when you decide to not install it they go ahead and do it anyway.
Sorry Microsoft that I got an OEM operating system and appears to have been used in the piracy issue with your operating system. Now because of this I have to search on torrent websites for a work around to this. Everyone that may have an version of Windows 7 that may have been used for piracy be warned that your computer may pop up telling you that your copy is no longer genuine. It will break your background and also warn you that your operating system may be vulnerable to security risks which is ironic since I do have to go to a torrent website now to find a fix to this moronic update.

Haven’t seen mine do that yet. Told the updater to hide that update when it first came out. Also, i don’t user automatic updates…

I would love it if someone could verify/clarify this. Scary to think that Microsoft has a back door into my system that I don’t know about. Building-in security risks so they can give you updates to fix “security risks” is not a good practice.
Are you sure you turned Automatic Updates off?

www.Revouninstaller.com, put it in hunter mode and target the validation icon in the tool bar to kill/delete process then restart comp.

Just as I thought would happen, now M$ will probably have to release a update that stops the WAT or will start being sued for fucking their own product over for Legitimate users.
I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again, DRM does nothing to stop piracy, it only raises it (see ubisoft) the legit users have to deal with all sorts of crap while the people who pirated it just run a crack/keygen/etc and are done with it.

You are missing a point – we are not discussing whether ones MS copy is legit or not – we are discussing if someone besides You has the right to install anything on YOUR computer. If all he said is true – MS is installing things You DO NOT WANT on YOUR computer.
Argument with ‘if You got a legit copy You got nothing to worry about’ is old and boring already. This is my computer and I am the one to choose which updated will be installed on it, not MS. I bet You would not like some random guy coming to Your house and installing some things on YOUR computer, would You?
And making a phone call is already a hassle – don’t You think?

Thank you. The whole point is that I disabled this from updating, made sure that it was UNCHECKED and then it ended up installing about 2 weeks later on its own, not only that but it did not restart. How do I know this? Because I have my login, so if it restarts I’m greeted by a login screen, instead I was greeted by a “you aren’t genuine” wall paper.

Got the same problem last week, all you gotta do is download & install is a Windows 7 crack that completely removes Windows Activation Technologies from the system called RemoveWAT, google it and problem solved.

I tried several loaders and activation tools and none of them worked.
RemoveWAT
Instead of attempting to fool the Windows Activation Technologies, it simply removes them. Worked for me.
Download it safely from:

No.. you just stuffed up and either had Download updates when available or you actually downloaded the update without reading the description properly..
I just done a Windows Update and the Windows Activation Tool update was sitting right there.. Just said update for Windows 7 x64 Systems..
Then if you read the description you will see what the update is for.. Just didn’t download it and nope it did not automatically download at all…
Guess this article is void now.. As your theory is debunked the update does not auto download nor install…
