Final Fantasy XIII Has Very Linear Gameplay
Final Fantasy is not a game that’s widely known for having a linear game play structure. Take Final Fantasy XII for example, you could run around and do whatever you felt like doing. Then when you felt like getting down to the nitty gritty you could continue the storyline.
Final Fantasy XIII will not have this. You are split between 2 different worlds Cocoon which is the story driven portion of the game and Gran Pulse with has an open world design. The reason why they decided to design the world of Cocoon in a linear format is to keep us from getting distracted. We wont be able to get lost this way, and hopefully we can complete the game a little bit faster rather than getting lost and annoyed and then dropping the controller.
I must say at first I was worried about the game not being as open as it was before, however after reading this I must say I’m pretty excited about it. I will still have an area that will be an open world while at the same time the other world will be drawn out more like Metal Gear Solid. You go from mission to mission and enjoy amazing cut scenes in between. Final Fantasy XIII is due to be released in North America on March 9th.

the game is linear because there’s no way they could of made it world exploring on xbox 360 when they had to make it in 3 different disc!! microsoft through tons of money at square-enix to make it eual. just wait until versus comes out I guarantee you it will not be like this one!
