Final Fantasy XIII D-Day

final fantasy xiii 13 ps3 Final Fantasy XIII D Day

Final Fantasy XIII will be released in just 8 hours where I am at. Unfortunately for my readers I am not special enough to receive review copies of games and because of that you are going to have to wait a week at the very least to receive my final review. Of course by then IGN will have this game reviewed as well as plenty of other bigger game websites. However I have decided I am still going to do an in depth review of this game, just because I would like to some day get review copies of games and do my own reviews and have them ready to be released in conjunction the games release.

Anyway this is not about my lack of a review for day one. This is all about the game, for those of you on the fence about this game might be persuaded to buy the game.

The Game is Linear, EWWWWWWWWWW!

Yes the game is going to linear for at least the first 25-30 hours it looks like. And yes it will annoy the living day lights out of me but that is okay. I think Square Enix knows what they are doing, and they know how to create a game that will knock your socks off. But just how linear are the first 25-30 hours? Well very linear it looks like, you wont be able to pick out your party leader, create your parties or really do much of anything besides fight battles and (hopefully) collect some points towards upgrading your characters.

Before you get upset, make sure you look at it from a different angle. Sure you will not be able to make any decisions for the first third of the game, but you will get to experience the different styles of characters. You will have a better idea as to what character you will want to play as most of the time, and which ones will work best in certain parties. I know I was just planning on having a party of sexy women but I suppose now I may rethink that if those sexy women are not that great.

The Great PS3 or Xbox 360 Debate

My good buddy from work, Tony asked me which system he should Final Fantasy XIII for. Just off the top of my head I let him know that most likely the PS3 would be the best one to go for because it was more or less made for the PS3. I didn’t really have much solid info at the time but I did have a good feeling that the PS3 version would be better.

I’m happy to say that the PS3 version of the game would be the one to get if you have the luxury of owning both systems. The game will look noticeably sharper on the PS3 and since you are investing 90+ hours into this game I would say that graphics are a pretty big concern. Not only that but the PS3 version is on a Blu-Ray Disc, what does this mean to you? It can hold more data than the DVD which the Xbox 360 uses. So with the PS3 you only get 1 disc, with the Xbox 360 you get a whopping 3 discs. Sure you can install the game on the Xbox 360 and use up 18gb of storage or you can just swap out discs each time. In any case I would say the PS3 is the way to go if you have the ability to get it on the PS3.

Best Final Fantasy EVER????

Just from reading a little bit on IGN it looks like it wont be the best Final Fantasy ever. I suppose you just can’t beat Final Fantasy VII but none the less this game is going to be worth buying. I enjoyed Final Fantasy XII and just from gameplay videos Final Fantasy XIII looks pretty similar to XII. Sure you don’t have magic anymore, but you have a time management system that works close to the same way. The battles look very similar, you can run around freely it looks like while you decide what attack to unleash. You can also summon some bad ass creatures to fight along side you when times get tough, and the graphics look stunning. Words can not express how amazing the game looks, so I decided to just give you a video.

So as you can see the game is beautiful, or at least I think it is.

Why Will I Buy It Tomorrow After Work?

While I put my job before my gaming habits and thus will not skip work for the midnight release, I am buying this game for a few reasons.

  • The graphics are gorgeous! I need a game to show off my big Plasma TV.
  • There is plenty of game play time to warrant this single player game a $60 price tag.
  • It reminds of Final Fantasy XII, a game that I fell in love with.

Those are just my own personal reasons why I am buying this game tomorrow as soon as I get out of work. Who knows maybe I can sneak out an hour early and get a head start? Anyway those of you still on the fence about buying this game I have supplied a few videos for you to watch. Also I will try to post mini reviews about this game about every 25 hours of game time.

    • Are you trying to be a dirty little troll?
It’s well worth buying for $60 just in case you were worried about it not being worth it.

I dunno if my sight is messed up, the screen is small, or what, but in the comparison video I think the 360 version looks better.
