So Amazon bought the multi touch company Touchco last week. They are merging it with Lab126, AKA their Kindle division. Amazon has job listings looking for a Hardware Display manager that knows LCDs and a Wi-Fi specialist. I get the feeling that Amazon is getting scared about the iPad and how their eBook store could screw up business for them. So I think they are going to release a fancy looking Kindle.
I’m still not sure which one I like more, granted this hasn’t really been announced yet and the iPad is coming out in just a matter of months. I think it’s going to be interesting to see if Apple can manage to disrupt Amazon’s eBook market share. Personally I would like to see Amazon hold onto that market share. They want to charge $9.99 for every eBook, which to me is perfectly fine. Why on earth does it matter if your book sells for less if it can sell many more? You don’t have to physically create the book which I would imagine cuts down on the money it takes to create a book. Apple on the other hand wants to let everyone give their own price for the eBook, so you could have some costing $30, or $15, probably not many at $9.99 which would suck, just a little bit.
What are your thoughts on the possibly new Amazon Multi Touch, Wi-Fi Enabled in Color, Kindle?

I personally think that even the dinky old kindle has nothing to worry about. The people that buy those devices buy them for the e-ink technology which the iPad doesn’t utilize… its just much easier on the eyes and is truer to the traditional reading-a-book experience. Granted I have to wait till I actually get my hands on somebody’s iPad once it comes out before I really make up my mind.
