600,000 Xbox Live Gamers Get Canned

Microsoft has started their usual cleansing process for Xbox Live gamers. Anyone with modified content on Xbox Live you can expect to get your console banned. Those of you looking to buy a 360 off of eBay or Craigslist, if the price is low I wouldn’t buy it as if they got the console banned from Xbox Live you are fucked too.

The Six Hundred Thousand bans that Microsoft passed out is only a small percentage of the 20 Million Xbox Live gamers however that is still a very huge number.

As far as what Microsoft is really focusing on it would appear to be piracy from what they have said in a statement.

“All consumers should know that piracy is illegal and that modifying their Xbox 360 console to play pirated discs violates the Xbox Live terms of use, will void their warranty and result in a ban from Xbox Live.”

“The health of the video game business depends on customers paying for the genuine products and services they receive from manufacturers, retailers, and the third parties that support them.”

As you can see they not only will ban your Xbox but void your warranty as well and with the failure rate as high as 50% a voided warranty isn’t something you really want. However I’m pretty sure you already voided your warranty by opening up your Xbox in the first place, unless you are magical.

Just in case you were wondering what you will see if you are banned from Xbox Live you will be greeted by this message when you try to get on: “Your console has been banned from Xbox”.

I’m happy I don’t mod my game consoles, if you do, then I’m very sorry but you shouldn’t be a douche bag that pirates video games.
